History, key figures and objectives

History

Incentra a/l was founded in 1967 by 10 well reputed independent Norwegian shipping companies.
Today ship owners, ship managers and rig companies, are members of the society.

The idea of forming the society was to secure the individual ship owner best possible terms and conditions from common suppliers of spares and consumables.

Incentra a/l as an organisation is unique of its kind within the shipping world. Framework agreements are being made between Incentra and the suppliers and are used exclusively by the members .
The activities of the society do not interfere with the autonomy of the individual member's purchasing or technical departments. However, the success of the society in reaching its goals is solely dependent of each member's engagement and contribution.

Key figures

The society consists of 39 active members operating in excess of 700 vessels and rigs.
Additionally, Incentra members have 105 confirmed newbuilding contracts placed with Norwegian and internationally based shipyards.
The combined turnover through the Incentra agreements for 2009 was approx. NOK 1.4 bill.

Objectives

The Incentra administration is working closely with a group of elected representatives from the members, this to obtain optimal terms and conditions at a minimum of cost.

Each framework agreement is a result of thorough market research and evaluation of each supplier's ability to comply with the quality standards required by the members. Incentra's aim is to build good and long-term relations, beneficial to both members and suppliers. Incentra perform QHSE audits of the suppliers.
